Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure
This notice serves as the Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure required by the Year 2000 Information and Readiness Act of the 105th United States Congress, S.2392.
VanDyke Software products are fully Year 2000 compliant. All versions of CRT™, SecureCRT®, AbsoluteFTP®, SecureFX®, and VShell® Server are Year 2000 compliant.
Year 2000 compliance means the software is able to process dates starting January 1, 2000 without errors, including leap years, and can handle the transition from December 31, 1999 to January 1, 2000 error-free.
CRT and SecureCRT are fully Year 2000 compliant. CRT and SecureCRT process dates solely in performing file transfers. The Zmodem file transfer protocol uses a 32-bit date format which is fully Year 2000 compliant. CRT and SecureCRT will display date information as provided by the host system without alteration. Each application will display dates in four-digit form (e.g. 2000) when they are provided that way.
AbsoluteFTP and SecureFX are fully Year 2000 compliant. All date processing done by AbsoluteFTP and SecureFX uses four digit dates. Certain FTP servers, mostly using the DOS operating system, provide date information in two-digit form. AbsoluteFTP and SecureFX convert these dates to a four-digit form according to the following formula. Any two digit date less than 80 is converted to be a four digit from 2000 to 2080. Any two digit date greater than 80 is converted to a four digit date from 1980 to 1999. For example, the two digit date 59 would be converted to 2059 while the two digit date 94 would be converted to 1994.
File transfer components read the host system date-time information, as well as read and set the date-time information for any files which are transferred. These routines are dependent on the host operating system, and therefore may be restricted by any limitations of the host. VanDyke software applications do not add any limitations beyond what is received from the host system.
Year 2000 compliance statements will be provided upon request. Please see the VanDyke Support page to contact our support team.
