(November 13, 2012) — VanDyke Software®, a developer of multi-platform secure terminal emulation and file transfer software, today announced the official release of the VShell® 3.9 server. The VShell server is a secure alternative to Telnet and FTP providing the strong encryption, robust authentication, and data integrity of Secure Shell. VShell 3.9 extends support for FTPS to the UNIX platform, allowing secure file transfer using the FTP protocol with SSL/TLS encryption. VShell with FTPS can also be configured to support plain-text connections via FTP for those who may require legacy connectivity. This latest release also adds support for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012.
VShell 3.9 server introduces new configuration options, including the ability in the Windows version to change virtual root permissions from the VShellConfig command-line utility. New connection filters have also been added to the subconfiguration options.
