VSHELL 2.0 TRANSFORMS YOUR WINDOWS SERVER INTO A SECURE FILE TRANSFER SOLUTION

VanDyke Official Release of VShell 2.0 Extends Secure File Transfer Capabilities for Enterprise Servers

Albuquerque, N.M. (April 2, 2002) — VanDyke Software™, a developer of customer-driven software solutions, today announced the official release of version 2.0 of its VShell™ SSH2™ server for Windows NT® and Windows 2000®. VShell 2.0 extends any Windows server's ability to act as a focal point for information sharing in corporate, government, and educational environments with the robust security of the Secure Shell protocol.

VShell 2.0 introduces multiple SFTP root access points, a first for SSH servers on the Windows platform. This feature provides system administrators with unprecedented control of user access to designated network folders. Employees, telecommuters, business partners, and customers can be assigned access to different network folders based on their roles. SFTP is an SSH2 protocol that provides authentication, encryption, and data integrity for file transfer.

"The ability to discretely allow or deny access to specific information based on user identity opens up a new spectrum of possibilities for sharing proprietary information securely," said Jeff P. Van Dyke, president of the company. "VShell 2.0 makes it possible for mission critical data to be distributed securely and confidently throughout an organization. Our native approach to file transfer and user access makes VShell the obvious choice for companies using Windows servers."

VShell uses Windows NT Access Control Lists (ACLs) to align network access and file transfer privileges with a company's security policies and it installs as a native Control Panel in Windows NT and Windows 2000 servers. The new release also provides an option for automatic generation of host keys following an unattended installation. This can greatly simplify enterprise-wide installations of VShell on multiple servers.
