VAN DYKE RELEASES VSHELL SERVER ENHANCEMENTS TO IMPROVE SECURE SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION ENVIRONMENT

Official Release of VShell™ Version 1.1 Offers Command Shell Enhancements, Access Control List Support

Albuquerque, N.M. (May 29, 2001) -- Van Dyke Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of security and access software, announced today the official release of its VShell™ 1.1 SSH2™ server for Microsoft® Windows® NT®. VShell 1.1 provides enhancements to the secure command shell and support for NT access control lists (ACLs), which make it easier for network and system administrators to manage Windows systems remotely.

When ACL support is combined with VShell's access filtering features, server configuration for NT secure access is simpler, faster, and more flexible. With ACLs and access filters, users or groups may be allowed or denied access to individual VShell capabilities such as command shell, secure file transfer using SFTP, and port forwarding or data tunneling.

"Many corporations are under-protected when it comes to remote and network access," said Jeff P. Van Dyke, president of Van Dyke Technologies, Inc. "They need to quickly close security holes like insecure telnet access without losing the ability to manage critical systems. VShell Version 1.1 makes it less complicated for administrators to securely configure and manage Windows network resources remotely from Unix, Linux, and Windows consoles."

VShell 1.1 builds on the product's encrypted command shell environment. Support for remote command execution allows automated execution of batch files and other programs on the VShell server. Alternate command shell support provides the ability to use shells such as 'bash', which are popular with technical users. VShell 1.1 also adds the ability to scroll back through the command window buffer.

VShell was introduced in December 2000 and was the first shipping SSH2 server for Microsoft Windows NT and 2000, providing secure access, data tunneling, and secure file transfer services. VShell 1.1, first previewed in beta release in April 2001, is available for free 60-day evaluation by downloading the fully functional software from www.vandyke.com. VShell is available in three configurations: VShell Personal for US$249, VShell Workgroup for US$399, and VShell Enterprise for US$799.

Van Dyke Technologies is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The company's other secure products include the SecureCRT® and SecureFX® SSH clients. Further information on Van Dyke Technologies is available on the Internet at www.vandyke.com, or by calling (505) 332-5700.
