SecureCRT 7.3 and SecureFX 7.3 from VanDyke Software Improve Productivity for Network Administrators with an Enhanced Dockable Session Manager and Advanced Keyword Highlighting for SecureCRT

Albuquerque, N.M. (October 23, 2014) —VanDyke Software, a developer of multi-platform secure terminal emulation and secure file transfer software, today announced the official releases of SecureCRT 7.3 and SecureFX 7.3.

SecureCRT 7.3 and SecureFX 7.3 offer an enhanced dockable session manager (now available on Mac and Linux platforms in addition to Windows). The session manager now includes a filter bar that lets network administrators quickly locate sessions in the session database. Also new in 7.3 releases are an import/export tool that makes it easier to backup or copy settings and improved security with the ability to not only generate larger keys for use with public-key authentication but also use larger keys with the SSH Agent.

SecureCRT 7.3 improves productivity with enhanced keyword highlighting. "With the ability to specify colors and combine keyword attributes, system administrators can easily color code critical output that they want to have stand out and identify errors in log files or streaming output, or to highlight prompts," said Maureen Jett, Product Director for SecureCRT. "On the Windows and Mac platforms, regular expressions can be used as keywords, allowing you to highlight important output such as IP address or error codes."

"Colorizing based on regular expressions opens up a world of possibilities, but just having the ability to make simple keywords such as 'no/down/initializing/error/fail' show red, and 'up/ready/success' show green has made me so much more productive. I am no longer hunting through a wall of text hoping that I don't miss important information. Now I can define what is important and the colors make it pop out on the screen automatically."

Other new features in SecureCRT 7.3 include named pipes (Windows only) and scripting support for Kermit file transfers. SecureFX 7.3 adds PGP compatibility, making it possible to automatically execute encryption and decryption commands, a new SFXCL "resume" option for resuming interrupted transfers, and the ability to display filenames using UTF-8.
