Albuquerque, N.M. (October 8, 2013) — VanDyke Software®, a developer of multi-platform secure terminal emulation and secure file transfer software, today announced the beta releases of SecureCRT® 7.2 and SecureFX® 7.2. On the Windows platform, SecureCRT and SecureFX now have a dockable session manager for quick access to sessions. On Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms, SecureCRT and SecureFX introduce a personal data folder for storing logon credentials separate from other session data.
"Many of our customers work with multiple, sometimes hundreds, of sessions at a time," said Maureen Jett, VanDyke Software's Product Director. "In that complex environment, opening a dialog to connect to or modify a session can be disruptive. With the session manager, sessions are viewed in a dockable pane that can be positioned on the left, right, top or bottom of the main program window. The session manager can also be undocked and used as a modeless dialog."
Discussing the convenience of the session manager, Scott Boyd, a network engineer and SecureCRT user, said, "The session manager is outstanding. I work with a lot of sessions and having the dockable window that I can also auto hide gives me very quick access to the sessions I use regularly."
Also new in the 7.2 beta releases is a personal data folder that allows usernames, passwords, and automated logon information to be stored separately from other configuration data. This allows personal data to be kept private while other configuration data is stored on a network drive or in the cloud so that it can be used on different systems or shared with colleagues.
SecureCRT 7.2 adds the ability to quickly zoom a session using the mouse or keyboard (Windows and Mac only) as well as a number of time-saving scripting enhancements. In SecureFX 7.2, SCP now supports Cisco and Juniper devices, and new options have been added to automatically synchronize files and to force ASCII or binary to be used for all files, reducing the interruption of manual prompts.
