SecureCRT® 3.2 Delivers Scriptable VCP Program for Secure File Transfer
Albuquerque, N.M. (December 12, 2000) — Van Dyke Technologies, Inc., a provider of quality Internet software, announced today the official release of SecureCRT™ 3.2 for Microsoft® Windows®. SecureCRT 3.2 includes the VCP program, which allows Windows users to transfer files securely.
The VCP utility runs from the Windows command shell. Encryption options can be specified for SSH sessions, including ciphers, compression, user account and public-key identity file. When combined with Van Dyke's VShell server or another SSH2™ server, VCP allows highly secure file transfers with passwords and data protected by SSH encryption—secure transfers that are not possible from a standard web browser or FTP client. VCP can be scripted or batched, which means it excels at performing scheduled daily transfers needed for files such as system logs, medical records, and financial data between networked or remote computers.
"With more companies sending sensitive information over the Internet, secure file transfer is a pressing need," said Jeff P. Van Dyke, president of Van Dyke Technologies, Inc. "Government offices, insurance companies, web developers and other organizations all have sensitive or proprietary information that must be protected, either by law or company policy. SecureCRT 3.2 with VCP gives Windows users a new way to transfer files and complements SecureFX®, our secure FTP product."
VCP uses a component of the Secure Shell™ protocol called Secure File Transfer Protocol, or SFTP. SFTP is supported by most SSH2 servers on Windows, Unix, and Linux platforms.
Fully functional evaluation software can be downloaded from www.vandyke.com. SecureCRT 3.2 is priced at US$99 for a single license, US$850 for 10 licenses, and US$5700 for 100 licenses. SecureCRT is also available in a bundled version with the SecureFX client for US$129.00. The software supports Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows ME, Windows 98, and Windows 95. SecureCRT's strong encryption technology is available for export outside the U.S., subject to export and import regulation by the U.S. and other governments.
Van Dyke Technologies first released SecureCRT with version 2.2 in 1998. Van Dyke Technologies is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Further information on Van Dyke Technologies is available on the Internet at www.vandyke.com, by sending e-mail to pr@vandyke.com, or by calling (505) 332-5700.
