SSH USERS NEED SECURECRT’S FLEXIBILITY, EASE OF USE

SecureCRT® 2.3 SSH Client Adds X11 Forwarding, Variable Compression

Albuquerque, N.M. (December 9, 1998) — Van Dyke Technologies, Inc., a provider of quality Internet software, announced today the official release of SecureCRT 2.3 for Windows NT and Windows 95/98. SecureCRT’s SSH capabilities have been extended with X11 forwarding, and the software adds other features improving performance, flexibility and ease of use. SecureCRT 2.3 adds X11 forwarding, an important capability employed to encrypt X-Windows sessions. SecureCRT "forwards" X-Windows by having the X-Windows server on the PC redirect traffic through SecureCRT, which connects to the remote X-Windows client. As in earlier versions, SSH port forwarding supports encrypting standard TCP data from SMTP, POP and other protocols between the client PC and the SSH server.

Several other new features enhance SecureCRT. SecureCRT 2.3 offers faster SSH connections with variable compression. Nine compression levels provide optimized performance on slow connections. A convenient option allows remembering passphrases during a series of SSH sessions. Firewall support has also been expanded to include the TIS plug-gw proxy.

In addition to SSH, SecureCRT supports telnet, rlogin, and serial protocols. Core emulations are provided for VT100, VT102, VT220, and ANSI terminals. Modem dialing can be managed in session configuration. Other configuration options include named sessions, custom keymaps and scripts.

Public key encryption technology for SecureCRT is licensed from RSA Data Security, Inc., of San Mateo, California, a subsidiary of Security Dynamics (www.rsa.com).

SecureCRT 2.3 is priced at $99 USD for a single license, $700 USD for 10 licenses, and $5000 USD for 100 licenses.
