Van Dyke Technologies, Inc. Makes Scholarships Available for Computer Science Majors at UNM

Albuquerque, N.M. (March 14, 2001) — The University of New Mexico has received $10,000 from Van Dyke Technologies, Inc., a provider of quality Internet software, for scholarships targeted at students majoring in computer science. This semester four students each received a scholarship in the amount of $1,250. The students are Stephen Bauer from Arvada, Colorado; Anna Tholse from Sweden; Christopher Riley Wilson from Albuquerque; and Ryan Gerety from Santa Fe.

Deepak Kapur, professor and chairman of Computer Science at UNM, said he is grateful for the donation from Van Dyke Technologies. "As the newest department of the School of Engineering, we don’t have as many designated scholarships as the other departments," Kapur said. "Van Dyke has set the way for other companies to help students achieve their goals by providing them with scholarship opportunities."

Jeff P. Van Dyke, president of Van Dyke Technologies, said the scholarships enable students to further their education in computer science. "We want to offer incentives to students to focus on software engineering as a career choice," said Van Dyke. "The earlier students realize they can train to be professional software developers, the better prepared they will be for positions in our company and others like ours."
