VANDYKE SOLUTIONS SECURE IRS NET ACCESS AND FILE TRANSFERS

Nationwide Deployment of VanDyke SecureCRT and SecureFX Provides IRS With Secure Network Communications

Albuquerque, N.M. (December 11, 2002) —VanDyke Software™, a developer of customer-driven software solutions, today announced that the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has purchased 10,000 licenses of the company's SecureCRT® remote access and SecureFX® file transfer clients for nationwide deployment. Driven by an internal mandate to use the Secure Shell (SSH) protocol for user authentication and encryption, the IRS will replace the use of non-secure Telnet and FTP protocols.

After extensive research and testing in their lab, the IRS's IT Systems Management Center recommended the adoption of VanDyke's applications to be used on computers at multiple sites across the U.S. This nationwide deployment required the use of a standard set of software to meet the needs of both novice and experienced user groups. Among the factors cited in the Center's recommendation were SecureCRT's advanced functionality and customization options as well as easy installation, allowing rapid deployment."
