File-Based Menu & Toolbar Configuration

File-based configuration makes it practical for administrators to develop and deploy a customized version of SecureCRT® to specific user groups. Based on the connectivity needs and technical requirements for each group, SecureCRT can be made as simple or as fully featured as necessary.

The text file shown on the left generates the customized menu pictured below. SecureCRT 4.x (and later) offers complete control over the menus and options, including keyboard shortcuts displayed.

Note the Run Script and Send String commands on the Sessions menu illustrated below. The script name(s) can easily be displayed as can a brief description of the string that will be sent.

Pictured below are examples of a customized menu, toolbar, and system menu.

In this custom toolbar, the "telnet linux" session is represented by a graphical button. The Run and Send buttons invoke a script or send a string, respectively.
